Panthro 2011

I haven't updated here in ages so I thought I'd upload this Panthro sketch I bashed out just now. I love the new Thundercats so goddamn much and it hurts my heart that there isn't a comic yet.

Lion-O warmup.

The new Thundercats animated series has absolutely floored me with the quality of storytelling and animation. I literally can't remember the last time I was able to get into a non-comedy animated series. Even Snarf doesn't suck (it helps that he doesn't speak)! Check it out immediately.

T-shirt concept (rough)

"A Choir of Angels"

Featuring (clockwise from top):

Angel (X-Men)
Mean Machine Angel (Judge Dredd)
Nicholas Angel (Hot Fuzz)
Angel (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)
Angel Batista (Dexter)

Needs serious work on the Simon Pegg and David Boreanaz likenesses but otherwise I think it works.

Hawkeye (inked)

Hawkeye (pencils)

Suggested by Chris Duffy.

Spawn (inks)

The completed Spawn piece.

Spawn (pencils)

I hadn't drawn Spawn in years and I'd completely forgotten about his one big crazy boot. Spawn is very much the Lady Gaga of comics.

As suggested by Robert Carey of the Sketch Paddys.

Green Goblin Inked

Fixed the wonky legs and dropped the cityscape background idea for a twisty Goblin Glider trail. also I put a bit more attitude in his stance and gave him a sweet sword.

Inked Spider-Man (Miles Morales)

Spider-Man (Miles Morales)

I was actually hoping to see a bit more of this guy in UItimate Fallout #4 after all the fuss. Looking forward to the new series a lot and the more I see of the new suit the more I like it.

Green Goblin (Incomplete)

Goblin's legs are a little awkward, I was going for insouciant but they're a bit on the stiff side. Background will be a an oblique cityscape, possibly with damaged buildings, fire etc.

Matt Trakker W/Face & Mask Detail

First attempt at M.A.S.K. Leader Trakker, the first of a planned series of M.A.S.K illustrations. I made a few changes, gave him a more modern hairstyle and altered the bottom of his harness to something a bit less testicle-annihilating. I also moved the pockets to the sides to be less 80's-looking. I couldn't quite get this one in focus for some reason so I took macro shots of the face and mask for detail. I think he looks a bit like Aaron Eckhart here so I may use him as a model in future.

Superman

Underpants on the outside. As is proper.

Skalien (Skanger Alien)

In space, no-one can hear Aslan. Space is nice.

The Eleventh Doctor & TARDIS

Bow ties are cool.

Ghost Rider & Pinhead (Incomplete)

Drawing Ghost Rider: fun. Drawing Pinhead: fun. Drawing the many many individual chain links that come with drawing Ghost Rider and Pinhead: less so.

Ghost Rider Transforms

Very few things are more fun to draw than Ghost Rider, especially mid-transformation. Screaming skulls and melting flesh. Yum.

Jason

The symmetry here is actually completely unintentional but we'll keep that between us.

Batman Vs. Jason

There was a time when Friday the 13th comics were published by Wildstorm, at the time an imprint of DC Comics. Yet the above never happened.

DC, I despair of you sometimes.

Pissed Off Thor

Inspired by a throwaway line from an episode of The Irish Pubcast.

Thor

Thor, brooding about his da, probably.

Punisher

Turned a sketch from a life drawing class into a Punisher in cross-armed badass pose. Bit of dodgy perspective on the arms though.
